OBGC teams have NCSL success

Posted by Tim Markey at Jul 2, 2017 12:28PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

OBGC boys teams completed a successful Spring season in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL). OBGC had 13 boys teams in seven age groups and they won 68 percent of their matches. Seven teams placed first or second in their respective group. The U-15 White was a perfect 9-0-0 in Division 2 and the U-17 Orange won Division 1 with an 8-0-1 record.

The OBGC girls completed their first NCSL season after the merger of the former Washington Area Girls Soccer League into NCSL. The U-15 Phoenix (Division 3) and U-19 Mystics (Division 1) each placed second in their respective groups.

More than 20 OBGC boys and girls teams competed in NCSL this Spring. OBGC teams also play in Region 1, EDP, and other competitive leagues in the area.

Pictured here is the U-15 White team after completing its perfect season.

Every month Safeway picks a local soccer team that demonstrates values mirroring those of its partner D.C. United. OBGC Rangers Orange were selected after completing an 8-0-1 spring season and placing first in NCSL Division 1. The team posted four shutouts and allowed only five goals all season. The team is coached by Pete Wood.
