U-16 boys win State Cup; U-18 girls lose in final

The U-16 Rangers Blue team won the State Cup with a penalty kick shootout win over Pipeline SC on June 4 at the Maryland Soccerplex. The teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation and extra time. The Rangers converted 9 of their 10 penalty kicks to win the PK shootout 9-8. The team is coached by Pete Wood.

The OBGC Olney Girls ’99 team lost in the U-18 State Cup final 3-2 to OPSA Magic on June 4 at the Maryland Soccerplex stadium field.

Congratulations to all of our teams for their success in the State Cup tournament. OBGC had four boys teams and two girls teams in the 2017 Maryland State Cup tournament. In addition to the U-16 team reaching the final, the U-15 and U-17 boys teams advanced to the semi-final. The U-18 OBGC Girls ’99 and U-16 Freedom Blue team played in the girls tournament.
